Latest HUR gym equipment keeps you mobile and fit for longer!

Posted on April 05, 2019

Beauty Point Retirement Resort has installed the latest HUR gym equipment from Finland because this equipment has been proved by clinical research to help keep people mobile and fit with regular use, especially as they age or if they’re recovering from an operation.

Available for the Resort’s residents as well as locals in the Padstow Heights area, the state-of-the-art gym equipment is already being used by residents who are saying they’re receiving major health benefits.

The reason the HUR equipment provides such good results is because it’s designed specifically to enable older people or those recovering from operations, to regain their core strength and vitality using air-pressure technology.

So just what are benefits of HUR gym equipment?

1) It’s safer and more effective to use because the HUR Air-pressure technology uses resistance measured in grams so it can be calibrated in very small increments to suit each individual.

2) Clinical studies have found the regular use of HUR gym equipment helps people: build muscle strength; regain orthopaedic strength after operations; build neurological strength after an illness and build up cardiovascular strength.

3) Clinical studies have found regular use of HUR equipment combined with balance exercises assists greatly with falls prevention.

4) People who’ve used the HUR gym regularly have noticed an improvement in their strength, posture, flexibility – as well as improved mood and decreased pain.

5) According to an ABC TV report, some people in Australia who’ve used the HUR gym equipment regularly have been able to throw away their walking sticks because they find they’re now strong enough to walk without them!

6) The HUR equipment is available for use by local people in the area as well as Beauty Point Retirement Resort residents.

Easy to use and safe for seniors and rehabilitation

The air-pressure technology the HUR equipment uses makes it easier to use at both low and high movement speeds. Older adults can start off with zero resistance and increase resistance by 1/4 pound increments. This makes the machines ideally suitable for people undergoing rehabilitation, as well as for those who are training for strength maintenance and strength building purposes. With this equipment, they can train harder with a lower risk of injury.

Many aches and pains start to reduce

Physiotherapist, Clare Wells says she has incorporated the new equipment and is seeing the benefits her clients are experiencing, even though ultimately, it means they will come and see her less often: “Once people come to see me and we set up an exercise program for them, they don’t need to see me as much anymore for physiotherapy treatment,” she says.

“Usually, whatever aches and pains they were previously coming to see me for, start to reduce. I may need to re-calibrate the equipment for them from time to time, but often that’s all we need to do. It’s really the best equipment on the market and we’re so lucky to have it here.”

“It’s just really easy to use,” she adds. “Both for the individual using the equipment and for me supervising. I can see online how people are going and this provides some accountability and this can be a good motivation for people. They can call me and ask for a few changes and I can do that for them easily.”

Valarie now finds it easier to walk

Since using the HUR equipment, Valarie Packham says the equipment has helped her a great deal: “At 87, I’m a bit older and I have problems with my back and yes – I do find this equipment is beneficial to me. It does help in strengthening my back and shoulders and that makes it a lot easier to walk and stand up straighter.”

Ken and Margaret Holliday can’t speak highly enough

Residents of the resort for the past five years, Ken and Margaret Holliday are enjoying the new HUR equipment and say they just can’t speak highly enough of it.

“We weren’t using the gym before but this equipment allows you to exercise most of your body in a gentle way. It’s been very helpful for Margaret because she’s recently had two operations on her knees and another major operation and this equipment is helping her to build her strength back,” says Ken.

“We go Monday, Wednesday and Friday to the gym and walk the other days. We do a class with Clare on Tuesdays and generally speaking – we’ve never felt better!” he adds.

“The main thing is having your body in tune and strengthening your core muscles. It improves your posture and it does that for everyone. We go for a swim in the pool afterwards and it’s all very beneficial when you put it together,” says Ken.

Alessandra Copeta says after using the new HUR gym equipment she has no more aches and pains.

Making a big difference to Alessandra’s health

Alessandra Copeta, a Beauty Point Retirement Resort resident for the past eight years, says she used to go for a walk every day but now she goes to the gym. At 73, Alessandra looks fabulous and fit and says she “feels better in myself” since using the HUR gym equipment.

“It’s much better than walking. I’d head off on a long walk and then realise I’ve got to go all the way back – and then I’d get a few aches and pains!” she laughs.

“But with this gym equipment, there are no aches and pains. I used to have to see Clare about the pain in my shoulders and neck and now I don’t need to see her anymore. There are lots of people using it now and they’re all enjoying it.”

“I thoroughly love it,” she adds, “I use every machine and then I go for a swim. It makes a huge difference!”

Local residents in the Padstow Heights area are able to utilise the gym at Beauty Point Retirement Resort. To find out more, simply call (02) 8294 0640.
